Brining Morals, Ethics and Honesty to Solar

Solar Boca Raton was started to bring Morals, Ethics and Honesty to the solar industry in South Florida.

Unfortunately due to lack of federal regulation and enforcement the company founders concluded that many of the sales teams, financing companies and installers in the solar industry are not familiar with what it means to be moral, ethical, transparent, or honest.

In an attempt to right the wrongs being committed daily across the state of Florida we have created a for-profit privately backed “public resource” Solar Boca Raton to ensure our customers get access to the highest quality solar systems and installation possible at the lowest retail price available.

Many companies claim they are transparent but will they tell you their profit margin on the deal they are trying to sell you? WE WILL. An honest days work for an honest days pay, and if the price is fair and the service is gold standard there is nothing to hide.

We feel that by educating consumers on the solar industry and offering quality solar systems at fair prices we can help more of our community gain energy independence.

    Solar FAQ

If You Have a Question, We’ve Probably Answered it Here!

Can My HOA Prevent Me from Getting Solar?

Florida Statute 163.04 forbids any binding agreement (between HOAs or otherwise) to prohibit a property owner from installing solar. An HOA may restrict where you place your solar panels, but not if the system’s performance suffers as a result. Learn more about Florida Statute 163.04.

How Long Do Solar Panels Last?

Solar panels typically have a 25 year warranty, however based on the material needs for your project the exact warranty terms may vary. One of our Solar Advocates can go over the specifics of your project during your free in-home assessment.

Do Solar Panels Work on Cloudy Days?

It’s a common misconception that solar panels won’t work in cloudy, rainy, or snowy areas. In reality, your solar panels can still capture and generate power from indirect light. During the initial survey and design process, we’ll examine your overall electricity usage relative to your potential solar energy production and structure your array to optimize savings. Geography and weather are key factors in this process. In some cases, we may recommend integrating battery storage with your solar energy system to extend the benefits of energy produced across cloudy and inclement weather.

Is it Easy to Care for Solar Panels?

Solar panels require little to no maintenance and often reduce the overall maintenance costs on your home by protecting the structure of your roof. To maximize the performance of your solar array, it is important to keep panels free of dust and debris. Natural patterns of wind and rainfall will do most of the work for you, but annual cleanings can help to keep them functioning at their best. Any advanced maintenance required is often due to unusual circumstances such as pests or home renovations and can easily be performed by one of our qualified Build Partners.

    What Happens if I Move?

If you sell your home before your solar loan is paid off or your PPA contract is over, your lender can help you transfer the balance of the agreement to the new homeowner. Another option is to add the value of the balance of your solar agreement to the asking price of your home and use the proceeds of the transaction to pay the system off.

What If I Need to Replace My Roof?

Most roofing companies are familiar with solar and will work with your installer to schedule the removal of your panels so roof work can begin. Once the new roof is installed, the solar company will again be called out to re-install your solar panels for a minimal fee.

Do I Need to be Home for the Installation?

We won’t ask you to swing a hammer, but we do ask that someone over the age of 18 be present for the installation. Your installers will also appreciate it if dogs and other pets are kept clear from their work area so they can focus on providing you the best service possible without distraction.

How Does The Solar Tax Credit Work?

Think of the ITC like a coupon for 26% off your home solar installation, backed and funded by the federal government. In the year that you install solar, the ITC can greatly reduce or even eliminate the taxes that you would have otherwise owed to the federal government.

2022 is the last year homeowners can take advantage of a 26% tax credit before it begins to phase out, so if you’re on the fence now could be a good time to go solar!

What are Peak and Off-Peak Electricity Hours?

Many utility companies use Time-Of-Use (TOU) rates to increase peak pricing when electricity is in high (peak) demand, helping to reduce the strain on the power grid. In turn, this incentivizes customers to use more electricity during periods of low demand (off-peak) when electricity prices are lower.

    Is Solar a Good Investment?

Many homeowners mistakenly think going solar requires a large upfront investment. As solar has grown in popularity, so have new types of financing that make it possible to start earning a return on your solar investment with no money down.

From tax credits to lower utility bills and even increased home values, are just some of the ways that make going solar a smart investment decision.

What Type of Solar Panels and Inverters do you Use?

Solar Boca Raton solar panel installations rely on premium panels in solid black. We currently use either Q CELLS solar panel modules (Q.PEAK DUO BLK ML-G10) or REC Alphα® Pure Black 400 solar panels, with either Enphase or SolarEdge inverters.

While equipment offerings are subject to change based on location and availability, we maintain selective product and performance standards to ensure that every solar energy solution promises peak performance, efficiency, and reliability.

    What is Net Metering?

Net metering allows customers who generate their own electricity from solar power to sell the electricity they aren’t using back into the grid. Many states have passed net metering laws. In other states, utilities may offer net metering programs voluntarily or as a result of regulatory decisions. Differences between state legislation, regulatory decisions and implementation policies mean that the mechanism for compensating solar customers varies widely across the country.

How Long Will the Installation Take?

The process before installation can take anywhere from 2-4 months, and can include several steps such as HOA approval, permitting, inspections, and utility approval. The installation itself can be completed in as little as a few hours with large installations taking up to a few days. Most installations take less than a day.

Do Solar Panels Increase Home Value?

According to a Zillow study published in 2019. Homes with solar panels sold for 4.1% more on average than comparable homes without solar power. This translates to a $9,274 increase in the sale price for the median-valued US home.
